Summary

Purdue University's Agricultural Safety and Health Program reported 44 farm-related fatalities in Indiana in 2016, a 47% increase from the average annual number since 1970. This represents the third year with an increase in fatalities and the third highest number documented over the past 47 years. Tractor-related incidents were the leading cause of fatalities, with 16 cases in 2016, and incidents involving individuals over 60 accounted for nearly half of all documented cases over the past five years.
