Summary

Education Minister Peter Weir MLA announced that due to the public health crisis, schools in Northern Ireland will provide remote learning at home instead of face-to-face teaching from January 7, 2021, until the mid-February half-term break. Special schools will remain open, and post-primary schools can hold face-to-face revision classes for GCSE students. Vulnerable children and children of key workers will have access to supervised learning in schools. Face coverings are compulsory for post-primary pupils in school and on home-to-school transport, and staff should work remotely where possible. The Department will continue to review and update guidance as necessary.
