Summary

The Slovenian government issued a regulation on the implementation of scientific research work in accordance with the principles of open science, which includes open access to research results, involvement of the interested public, evaluation and assessment of researchers, and infrastructure for open science. The regulation requires that research results, including scientific publications and research data, be made openly accessible, with some exceptions allowed for justified reasons such as protection of intellectual property or personal data. Researchers are required to prepare and regularly update a plan for managing research data, and to make research data and other results openly accessible, either directly or through anonymized or controlled access. The regulation also requires that scientific journals financed from public funds make their articles and research data openly accessible, and that they establish rules for the storage and accessibility of research data.
