Summary

Given the available epidemiological data and the timing as many schools and universities return to campus, contact sports, such as football and wrestling, pose a high risk of transmitting COVID-19 to athletes, coaches, and the general community, and should be avoided at this time. MDHHS recommends mitigation measures to reduce the risk of disease transmission, including enforcing hand washing, ensuring adequate supplies, and proper cleaning and disinfection of facilities and shared equipment.
