The Republic of Uganda's Buikwe District Local Government has developed a District Development Plan (DDP II) for 2015/16 – 2019/20, with a vision of "A Transformed Population of Buikwe District enjoying Improved Quality of life by the year 2040" and a theme of "Effective Service delivery for Sustainable Development". The plan aims to improve the quality of life of the people of Buikwe District by 2020, with sustainable and productive socio-economic enterprises, equitable resource utilization, and wealth creation. The district faces challenges such as inadequate resources, shortage of skilled personnel, and poor financial management, and emphasizes the need for participation of stakeholders, improved governance structures, and effective service delivery. The plan was developed with the support of ICEIDA and other development partners, and the district leadership appeals for support from all stakeholders to implement the plan and provide adequate and accessible social services to improve the standards of living of the people in the district.
