Summary

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency has developed a new code, the Small Commercial Vessel and Pilot Boat (SCV) Code, to harmonize and rationalize existing small vessel codes. The SCV Code standards can be used for vessels already coded or in the process of coding to the existing codes, with certification issued under the existing codes. The SCV Code will come into force, replacing the existing codes, and vessels constructed after its implementation will be issued with new code certification. The code covers construction, structural strength, weathertight integrity, and other safety aspects for small commercial vessels, workboats, and pilot boats.
