The Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures decides to implement Article 4 of the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures by:
1. Accepting equivalence for specific measures or products,
2. Requiring importing members to explain the objective and rationale of their measures,
3. Responding to requests for equivalence within 6 months,
4. Requiring exporting members to provide science-based information,
5. Accelerating procedures for historically imported products,
6. Not disrupting ongoing imports during consideration of equivalence,
7. Analyzing science-based information,
8. Providing technical assistance to developing country members,
9. Participating in international work on equivalence, and
10. Encouraging the development of guidance on equivalence.
