Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) are a cost-effective way to deliver safe streets for walking and cycling by minimizing through-traffic in residential neighborhoods. A survey was conducted by Kantar in January 2021 to understand the views of residents living in areas where LTNs have been implemented. The research focused on four LTN interventions in Birmingham, Bournemouth, Ipswich, and Salford, which were chosen for their good stakeholder engagement and design principles. The survey aimed to inform future development and investment in LTN schemes. The LTNs included in the research used modal filters, road closures, and other approaches to limit car movement and improve conditions for walking and cycling. The goal of LTNs is to make walking and cycling more convenient than using a car for short trips, while maintaining essential access and enhancing the quality of the area.
