Summary

Ukraine's parliamentary elections in March 2002 will determine the composition of the Verkhovna Rada, the correlation of forces between the parliament, president, and government, and the fate of Ukrainian reforms. The election law, adopted on October 18, 2001, features a mixed majoritarian-proportional system, with 225 deputies elected in single-member districts and 225 by party lists with a 4% electoral hurdle.
