Das aktive Wahlalter für Wahlen zum Deutschen Bundestag und zum Europäischen Parlament soll auf 16 Jahre herabgesetzt werden. Ein Hearing mit Expertinnen und Experten aus verschiedenen Fachrichtungen sowie mit zwei Jugendlichen als Expertinnen in eigener Sache ergab, dass alle Befragten für eine Herabsetzung des aktiven Wahlalters auf 16 Jahre votierten. Es gab keine rechtlichen Argumente oder Zweifel an der Fähigkeit junger Menschen, an Wahlen teilzunehmen. Die Expertinnen und Experten betonten, dass junge Menschen in der Lage seien, selbstbestimmt und verantwortungsbewusst ihre Stimme abzugeben. Die Herabsetzung des Wahlalters auf 16 Jahre wurde als unbedenklich bezeichnet.
