The study examined health behaviors of nursing staff working in a shift system at a hospital in Wadowice, Poland. The aim was to recognize health behaviors among nurses according to age and to discover if there is a relationship between the hospital ward and particular health behaviors. The study involved 133 nurses working in a shift system, and a diagnostic survey was carried out using the Health-Related Behaviour Inventory. The results showed that the mean value of correct eating habits was 3.37, prophylactic behaviors was 3.36, positive mental attitude was 3.38, and health practices was 2.87. The overall rate of intensity of health behaviors was 77.87. The study found that nurses working in a shift system represented a mediocre level of undertaking health behaviors, and the highest level and intensity of health behaviors was observed in those working in the Operating Block. The more advanced the age of the nurses, the more frequent correct health behaviors. The study concluded that hospital management should be involved in preventive measures due to the low level of undertaking health behaviors by the nursing staff.
