Summary

Breast cancer research is progressing, enabling breast clinics to propose personalized treatment plans with significant de-escalation of treatment for selected patients. The Mammaprint signature, a genomic analysis, helps predict whether hormone-dependent breast cancer patients will benefit from chemotherapy, allowing for de-escalation of treatment for women over 50 without risk. New targeted medicines, such as CDK-4/6 inhibitors, have increased patient survival with limited side effects. Research has also shown promising results for HER2-positive breast cancers, with personalized treatment options, and immunotherapy is being explored for triple negative breast cancers.
