Key points:
- Full-time work is defined as 31 hours or more per week at a core or affiliated facility.
- One month of full-time work is equivalent to one unit of training.
- Part-time work is calculated as a fraction of a unit based on hours worked per week, with 0.8 units for 26-31 hours, 0.6 units for 21-26 hours, 0.4 units for 16-21 hours, and 0.2 units for 8-16 hours.
- Night shifts and on-call duties are not counted towards training units, but may be recognized as clinical experience.
- Leave for maternity, childcare, illness, or study abroad is counted towards training units for up to six months.
- Non-full-time workers must complete at least one year of full-time training to ensure sufficient experience.
- Non-full-time workers cannot simultaneously earn training units in different fields.

Additional notes:
- For the internal medicine specialist exam, 36 units of training are required, including two years of initial clinical training and three years of late-stage clinical training.
- For the comprehensive internal medicine specialist exam, 36 units of training are required after obtaining certified internal medicine physician status.
