The study evaluated the usefulness of the ImmunoCard Mycoplasma test, a rapid diagnostic kit for detecting Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections, by comparing it with the particle agglutination (PA) method. The results showed that while the ImmunoCard test had high sensitivity, its specificity was low, and a single cutoff value for distinguishing between positive and negative results could not be determined. However, by using a semi-quantitative analysis with Adobe Photoshop, the study found that a cyan density of 80% or higher corresponded to a positive result, and a density of 60% or lower corresponded to a negative result, with a gray zone in between. The study concluded that the ImmunoCard test is not reliable enough for definitive diagnosis and that further evaluation is needed to determine its usefulness in clinical practice.
