DRAMATHERAPIE en SCHEMATHERAPIE gaan over corrigerende ervaringen in de spelwerkelijkheid, waarbij de therapeutische relatie en het versterken van de gezonde volwassene en het helen van het kwetsbare kind centraal staan. Het doel is om een corrigerende emotionele ervaring te creëren, waarbij het begrip van 1946 van Franz Alexander wordt toegepast: de patiënt onder gunstiger omstandigheden blootstellen aan emotionele situaties die hij in het verleden niet kon hanteren. De spelwerkelijkheid dient als podium voor deze corrigerende ervaringen, waarbij gebruik wordt gemaakt van experientiële technieken, zoals doen alsof, om een werkelijke ervaring te creëren die lichamelijk voelbaar, zichtbaar en interactief is.
