Summary

The 2022 Knox County High School Youth Risk Behavior Survey aimed to identify behaviors associated with higher risks of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes, as well as unintentional injuries, substance dependence, and premature mortality. The survey, conducted among Knox County Schools high school students, focused on five health topics: unintentional injury, violence, mental health, and suicide; tobacco, vapor product, alcohol, and other drug use; weight control and physical activity; health and social behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic; and miscellaneous other health topics. The survey collected data from 47 second-period classes, with responses analyzed using CDC-provided guidelines, and results compared to national and state YRBS results, as well as Healthy People 2020 and 2030 objectives.
