On June 13, 1907, in Tiflis, a group of revolutionaries, led by 29-year-old Josef Djugashvili, later known as Stalin, planned to carry out a bank robbery to win the attention of the world. The group, known as "the Outfit," had been preparing for months, with Stalin working meticulously on the plan. Vladimir Lenin, the leader of the Bolshevik Party, had secretly met with Stalin in Berlin and London to order the heist, despite the party's ban on "expropriations."
