Summary

The Lord Jesus is the Lord of glory, the image of God, and the eternal son of the Father. He became flesh and dwelt among us, giving himself for the sins of those for whom he was dying, and his death on the cross was an atoning death under the curse of God. The Holy Spirit reveals this truth to believers, and they know that the Lord of glory has been crucified for them and is their shepherd, laying down his life for his sheep. Jesus has the authority to lay down his life and take it up again, and he did so to retrieve his sheep to himself. Believers must hear and believe this gospel, and know Jesus as their shepherd who has redeemed them and will guide and protect them throughout their lives, using his word to gather them to himself and present them glorious in the last day.
