Summary

El Servei de Patrimoni Arquitectònic Local de la Diputació de Barcelona (SPAL) ha realitzat estudis previs que han donat fruit en nombroses restauracions de monuments durant més de cent anys, especialment en les últimes tres dècades. L'equip pluridisciplinari de tècnics i col·laboradors de l'SPAL ha treballat en la revalorització d'esglésies, ponts, castells o palaus, com el castell de Callús, la rectoria de Castellnou de Bages o l'església de Sant Pere de Madrona. El Servei es va fundar el 1914 i ha estat dirigit per cinc arquitectes, amb l'objectiu d'assessorar i oferir ajuda tècnica i científica en matèria de patrimoni arquitectònic als municipis de la província de Barcelona. L'SPAL compta amb una plantilla que s'ha anat ampliant al llarg dels anys, amb la incorporació d'arqueòlegs, historiadors i altres especialistes, i ha desenvolupat un mètode de restauració monumental basat en l'estudi del monument com a font documental, la recerca de documents i la investigació historicoartística.
