Lulu Cerone, a past Barron Prize winner, has written a book called Philanthroparties, a party-planning guide for kids who want to give back. The book provides tips and ideas to fit social activism into social lives, and features simple, inexpensive, and creative ideas for kids to create tangible good. Lulu was inspired by her own experiences as a kid, when she was frustrated by the lack of volunteer opportunities for young people. She founded LemonAID Warriors, a youth activism organization, and developed PhilanthroParties, which were successful events that empowered kids to make a difference. The book includes DIY ideas, such as making bio-seed paper and hosting an Ugly Food Feast to raise awareness about food waste. Lulu's favorite book is The Little Prince, and her favorite quote from her own book is: "No act of kindness is ever wasted. Any action a child takes to address another's need is a worthy action. No matter how small.
