The Japanese government provides financial assistance for the purchase of vehicles and related equipment to promote environmentally friendly transportation. The assistance is available for the following types of vehicles and equipment:

Low Emission Vehicles (LEVs) and Hybrid Vehicles:

Small vehicles: ¥234,000 (new purchase or lease)
Medium vehicles: ¥875,000 (new purchase or lease)
Large vehicles: ¥1,000,000 (new purchase or lease)

Hybrid Vehicles:

Small vehicles: ¥97,000 (new purchase or lease)
Medium vehicles: ¥335,000 (new purchase or lease)

Energy-saving equipment:

Eco-Drive Management System (EMS) for vehicles: ¥10,000 per unit
EMS and Driver Record (DR) together for one company: ¥15 units

Drive Recorder (DR) for vehicles: ¥10,000 per unit

Idling Stop Support Equipment:

Idling Stop Support Machine (catalytic converter): ¥15,000 (one-third of the purchase price, up to ¥15,000)
Idling Stop Support Machine (air heater and battery-type cooling device): ¥15,000 (one-third of the purchase price, up to ¥60,000)

Environmental Tires (retreaded tires): ¥50,000 (one-third of the purchase price, up to ¥50,000)

Safety equipment:

Rearview camera: ¥10,000 per unit
Sideview camera: ¥10,000 per unit
Rearview camera and sideview camera together for one company: ¥20,000 per unit

20,000 yen for a rearview camera and sideview camera together for one company, up to 10 units

10,000 yen for a handheld alcohol interlock device

10,000 yen for a handheld alcohol detector

50,000 yen for a collision damage reduction brake device (one-fourth of the purchase price, up to ¥50,000)
