Summary

inert helium atmosphere with temperatures of 250-850°C and 2% O2/98% He with temperatures of 550-870°C. OC was defined as carbon evolving at/below 850°C in helium, and EC as carbon evolving after oxygen introduction. A high-flow impactor collected size-segregated aerosols, while PM2.5 and PM10 samples were collected by aerosol samplers and analyzed using the IMPROVE thermal/optical reflectance protocol. Comparison of results showed excellent agreement in total carbon, but biases in OC (+10%) and EC (-30%) due to different thermal gradients and laser correction. Sensitivity tests showed minimal impact on bsp results. ISORROPIA II and E-AIM models were compared, with small differences in NO3- and NH4+ outputs, but larger differences in HSO4- and SO4 2- partitioning. ISORROPIA II was chosen for its accuracy, efficiency, and suitability for batch processing.
