Cluster analysis identified 35 groups of genes with similar expression patterns, and Gene Ontology classification revealed functional associations among co-expressed genes, including induction of gene expression, translation, and protein modification at dusk and night. The study suggests that co-expressed genes are likely regulated by common mechanisms and that the nocturnal phase of the diurnal cycle involves significant induction of fundamental biochemical processes.
