Summary

Microseismicity in Tenerife has been studied in relation to volcanic activity over the last 20 years, with a notable seismic swarm in 2004 featuring over 120 earthquakes near Teide volcano. A manual detection of seismicity at the CCAN station, combined with data from temporary seismic networks, reveals a background activity of around 1000 microearthquakes per year, with a peak of over 2000 events in 2004. Seismicity is observed under the Teide summit and NE Rift, with results compared to recent data from the new IGN seismic network.
