Summary

Der Eisvogel (Alcedo atthis) lebt in gemäßigten und warmen Zonen Eurasiens, benötigt klare, fischreiche Gewässer und Steilwände für Bruthöhlen. Sein Aussehen ist an den Lebensraum angepasst, mit blau-türkis schillerndem Rücken und rostbrauner Unterseite. Er ist ein geschickter Fischjäger mit kräftigem Schnabel und kann bis zu 2-3 Bruten pro Jahr großziehen. Der Eisvogel ist in Bremen und Niedersachsen gefährdet und streng geschützt, hauptsächlich durch Gewässerverschmutzung, Uferverbau und Flussregulierung. Er kann in Bremen am Kuhgrabensee oder im Naturschutzgebiet Borgfelder Wümmewiesen beobachtet werden.
