Formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3) perovskite was synthesized at room temperature using a sequential chemical synthesis technique. The technique involved dissolving formamidine acetate and lead iodide in N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) under magnetic stirring for 8 hours. The structural and optical properties of the FAPbI3 films were characterized using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The X-ray diffraction pattern confirmed the α-phase of FAPbI3 perovskite, with a crystallite size of 40 nm. The UV-Visible analysis showed a broad absorption spectrum with a bandgap value of 1.55 eV, while the photoluminescence analysis showed an emission peak at 727 nm with an estimated bandgap of 1.57 eV.

The transmission electron microscopy analysis confirmed the crystalline phase of FAPbI3 material, with an inter-planar spacing of 0.62 nm. The results indicate that the room temperature synthesis technique can produce high-quality FAPbI3 perovskite films with desirable properties for solar cell applications. The α-phase FAPbI3 perovskite has a wider absorption spectrum and better thermal stability, making it a suitable candidate for absorber material in solar cells and other optoelectronic devices.
