Summary

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of heavy metal (CuSO4) and drought stress on the growth pattern of wheat and maize genotypes. The results showed that maize performed better than wheat under all conditions, and the treatment with 20 ml biogas liquid waste, 80 ml H2O, and 0.5 mM CuSO4 showed better results than the treatment with 1 mM CuSO4 and 120 ml H2O. The higher concentration of CuSO4 and lower amount of water in the soil significantly reduced the growth of both wheat and maize. The study concluded that the addition of high concentrations of CuSO4 and lower amounts of water to wheat or maize crops will significantly reduce crop productivity, and recommended using biogas liquid waste water to improve stress tolerance and yield of maize and wheat.
