Summary

Researchers generated a genetically engineered mouse model, Eklf(K74R), with a mutation in the hematopoietic transcription factor KLF1/EKLF, which exhibits extended lifespan and cancer resistance. The anti-cancer capability of Eklf(K74R) mice is independent of age, gender, and genetic background, and can be transferred to wild-type mice via bone marrow mononuclear cell transplantation. Global gene expression profiling analysis identified changes in protein expression and cellular pathways in Eklf(K74R) leukocytes associated with anti-cancer and anti-aging effects.
