Summary

Ultracentral collisions of heavy nuclei are sensitive to initial state models and microscopic mechanisms for collective flow. Hydrodynamic and color glass condensate (CGC) models lead to different predictions for multiplicity dependence in ultracentral collisions of deformed nuclei. The CGC correlations increase with multiplicity, while hydrodynamic correlations decrease. Experimental data on UU collisions support the hydrodynamic model, ruling out a CGC-mediated explanation. These features persist in small deformed systems, providing a test of microscopic physics.
