Summary

Researchers studied the Stephanov model, a Random Matrix Theory (RMT) model for QCD at finite density, using the Complex Langevin algorithm. The naive implementation of the algorithm converged to the phase quenched or quenched theory instead of the intended theory with dynamical quarks. Various modifications, including gauge cooling and a shifted representation for the random matrices, were tested but did not substantially improve the results, which still did not agree with analytical predictions. The study also compared the performance of the Complex Langevin algorithm on the Stephanov model and the Osborn model, which has a milder sign problem.
