## Policy Guidelines
- Prohibited Activities: Eating, consuming liquids, removing material without permission, and smoking are not allowed in the herbarium to prevent damage and contamination.
- Decontamination: All dried materials must be decontaminated before use, preferably via microwave or deep freeze treatment.
- Handling Specimens: Staff and visitors must follow detailed handling guidelines (Addendum 1) for unmounted specimens, mounted specimens, stacking, mounting requirements, working with collections, and maintaining a clean environment to prevent infestation and damage.

1. Infestations: Implement decontamination methods to prevent and control insect infestations.
2. Unmounted Specimens: Minimize handling, use protective flimsies, and avoid leaving them exposed.
3. Mounted Specimens: Use appropriate mounting boards and adhesives, cover specimens with protective materials during dissection, and stack carefully.
4. Stacking: Avoid heavy objects on specimens, use corrugated cardboard for support, and maintain proper filing systems to prevent damage.
5. Maintenance: Regularly inspect for insects, keep work areas clean, store flammable chemicals elsewhere, and ensure screens are fitted on open windows.
