Summary

A dynamic dispersive spectrometer using a Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) has been developed for high pressure measurements. The spectrometer uses a femtosecond laser source, a long dispersive fiber, and a fast acquisition system to measure pressure profiles with high resolution. The FBG is placed in the shock direction, and the reflected wavelength shifts towards lower wavelengths as a function of pressure. The spectrometer is compared to an AWG-based dynamic spectrometer in a shock plate experiment using a long FBG. The results show that the dispersive spectrometer offers greater resolution, making it favorable for retrieving pressure profiles. The experimental setup involves a symmetric impact with 6061T6 aluminum, and the pressure is maintained for a few microseconds, generating a sustained level of 2.1 GPa. The Bragg shift measured is (16 ± 1) nm.
