The US decking market used 18.5 million m3 of treated wood or WPC materials in 2000, with WPCs currently used for about 10% of decking and expected to increase to 20% by 2005. Expenditures for WPC decking were $65 million in 2000, with total WPC production at $90 million. Market growth is predicted to reach 270,000 tonnes in Europe and 1.7 million tonnes in North America by 2010, driven by public perception of greater durability and reduced maintenance with WPCs.
