Summary

Researchers Gaku Morio and Katsuhide Fujita propose a novel approach to Argument Mining (AM) for discussion threads, introducing a combination scheme that focuses on micro-level inner- and inter-post schemes. They annotate large-scale civic discussion threads with this scheme and propose a parallel constrained pointer architecture (PCPA) for end-to-end discrimination of sentence types, inner-post relations, and inter-post interactions. Experimental results show that their model achieves better accuracy in relation extraction compared to existing state-of-the-art models.
