Summary

Fig. 2 illustrates the adjustment process for loops and supports on an Adjust-A-Grate. Front loops should align with a line, while other loops slide to 1/4" inside this line. If loops resist sliding, ensure all bolts are loose and supports remain straight. After positioning the grate using a cardboard template (Fig. 1), front loops align with the traced line, and remaining loops adjust slightly inward. The left A support is slid away from the right without exceeding overlap edges, then tightened. Both ends of supports must move simultaneously to avoid binding on loops. There should be at least 2" between A supports; if not, contact a dealer for alternatives.

Tools required include a tape measure, 7/16 wrench, and pencil. The installation process involves checking nut tightness and optionally attaching a GRATE ESCAPE security kit. Proper fit is verified before use. Adjust-A-Grates come with pegged brackets for metal wells; if the well lip accommodates, extend pegs across a line at a square angle (Fig. 4). For non-metal wells, flat brackets are used, and backstops may be necessary if spacing exceeds 3/4" (Fig. 5).

Support adjustments involve sliding left C support about 5" from rear loop ends and tightening, followed by the left B support near front loops. Repeat on the right side. If the well is too narrow for adjustment, remove both "B" supports. For further issues, contact Adjust-A-Grate at (303) 278-6262.

Description

Fig. 2 illustrates the positioning of loops and supports for a window well cover system. It shows how to slide A Supports close to the ends of overlap with an overhang. Fig. 1 provides guidance on placing a cardboard template, ensuring proper alignment with the grate's front side facing the tracing. The process involves creating individual templates due to irregularities in well shapes and maintaining approximately 1 1/2” space between the grate and line.
