Protein C (Chromogenic) kit is for chromogenic based haemostasis assays, intended for quantitative determination of protein C in human plasma. Protein C is a vitamin K dependent protein that regulates anticoagulant mechanisms and can inhibit coagulation. The kit uses a specific fraction from snake venom to activate protein C, and the amount of activated protein C is determined by monitoring the hydrolysis of a chromogenic substrate. The kit is for in vitro diagnostic use only, and warnings and precautions are provided for handling and disposal. The composition of the kit includes protein C substrate, activator, and diluent, and items required but not provided include a coagulation instrument or spectrophotometer and calibration plasma.
