Summary

The value of an electronic knowledge repository depends on the quality of knowledge it offers, which is ensured through validation procedures. However, if these procedures are perceived as unfair, they can discourage employee contributions. This study explores how perceptions of fairness in validation procedures influence knowledge contributions to a repository, drawing on literature in knowledge sharing and organizational justice. Analysis of survey data reveals that procedural justice of validation positively influences quality perceptions and contribution behaviors, but informational and interpersonal justice do not. The results have implications for knowledge management research and practice, highlighting the importance of fair validation procedures in encouraging knowledge contributions.
