Summary

This research studies voting behavior in the 2015 Surabaya mayoral election, specifically in Putat Jaya, Sawahan District, where a policy to close the localization was implemented. The study uses rational choice theory and a qualitative method, collecting data through interviews, observations, and literature reviews. The results show that the policy to close the localization influenced voting behavior, with citizens supporting candidates who implemented the policy despite its negative impact on the community. The study identifies factors that influenced voting behavior, including the desire to escape the negative stigma of localization, the acceptance of the program due to direct benefits, and the role of religious leaders in changing citizens' perceptions of the policy's impact.
