Summary

The introduction of T Levels from September 2020 is one of the biggest reforms to technical education in a generation, with industry placements being a mandatory and critical part of every T Level. The government has been testing and trialing industry placement models since 2017 and has developed a framework of acceptable models for industry placements. This includes allowing a single placement to be split across two employers, undertaking short work taster activities, and using a provider's on-site facilities for students with special educational needs and disabilities. The government has also developed a package of further support for employers to support the delivery of industry placements, including an Employer Support Fund pilot and an Employer Support Package.
