Summary

Food establishment owners are provided guidance on managing coronavirus infection. If an employee or customer tests positive for COVID-19, the establishment should close for cleaning and disinfecting for at least 24 hours. Employees exposed to the positive case should quarantine for 14 days. The Delaware Public Health (DPH) Coronavirus Call Center advises on quarantine and provides guidance. There is no requirement to hire a cleaning crew, but establishments must follow EPA and chemical manufacturer recommendations for cleaning and disinfecting. A checklist with employee initials is recommended to ensure effective disinfection. If an employee tests positive, the establishment should contact DPH for guidance, and there is no mandated period for business closure. Unaffected employees may return to work after cleaning and disinfection are complete. Approval from DPH is not required to reopen unless DPH ordered the facility to close.
