Summary

Tanya Collier was a Metro Councilor for District 9 from 1986 to 1993, born in 1946 in Tulare, California, and moved to Portland, Oregon in 1950. She earned degrees from Clackamas Community College and Portland State University, and worked in various public and non-profit sectors before being appointed to the Metro Council in 1986. Collier was elected presiding officer in 1990 and 1991, and served on several committees, achieving notable accomplishments such as the opening of the Oregon Convention Center and the establishment of a curbside recycling program. She left Metro in 1993 to serve on the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners and later returned to Metro to work in labor relations and as Human Resources director. Collier remains engaged in civic affairs and focuses on family activities, creative pursuits, and promoting equal rights for women.
