Summary

Anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome (ACNES) is a painful abdominal wall neuropathy, and chronic post-surgical inguinal pain (CPIP) is a complication of hernia surgery, both of which are the primary focus of this thesis. ACNES has an incidence of approximately 2% in patients evaluated for acute abdominal pain, presenting with localized dull anterior abdominal pain, often attenuated with certain activities or postures. CPIP affects 10-12% of patients after hernia repair surgery, with 2% experiencing severe and debilitating pain. Treatment challenges exist for both conditions, with some patients not responding to therapy. New treatment modalities, such as dorsal root ganglion (DRG) spinal cord stimulation (SCS), may provide alternative options for these patients.
