Summary

Constantino I o Constantino el Grande fue emperador del Imperio Romano desde 306 hasta 337 y es conocido como el primer emperador cristiano. Era hijo de Constancio Cloro y Helena, y tras la muerte de su padre, fue aclamado emperador por las tropas locales. Derrotó a Maximiano y Majencio, y luego a Licinio, convirtiéndose en el único Augusto del imperio. Promovió la libertad de culto y la unidad de la Iglesia, y llevó a cabo reformas administrativas, militares y económicas. También convocó el Concilio de Nicea para resolver la controversia trinitaria y cambió la capital del imperio a Constantinopla. Aunque no fue bautizado hasta poco antes de morir, su legado incluye haber dado libertad a la Iglesia y favorecer su unidad.
