Summary

Researchers studied physical properties of 9 Indonesian local rice varieties from Banten, West Sumatra, and East Java provinces, including length, width, shape, 1000 grain weight, bulk density, and chalkiness percentage. Results showed variations in grain shape, with Tunggul Hideung and Genjah Nganjuk being slender and others oval. Kewal Gudril had the highest 1000 grain weight, while Kuriak Kusuik had the lowest. Bulk density varied, with Kuriak Kusuik having the highest unhulled bulk density and Susu Putih having the highest rice bulk density. Calcareous rice percentage classified some varieties as premium quality, medium quality, or not meeting quality requirements.
