Summary

Researchers conducted analogue modeling experiments to investigate the influence of thrust geometry and velocity discontinuity on hanging-wall deformation in a flat-ramp-flat thrust system. They compared flat-ramp-flat and convex-concave ramp geometries, and eliminated the velocity discontinuity artifact present in previous studies. Preliminary results suggest that both variables play a significant role in the structural style of hanging-wall deformation in convergent tectonic settings.
