Summary

Researchers developed a proton-hopping charge storage mechanism for high-performance supercapacitors using an ionic one-dimensional coordination polymer, ZnPIm. The material was synthesized and characterized, and its electrochemical properties were evaluated using galvanostatic charge-discharge, cyclic voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The specific capacitance, energy density, and power density were calculated, and computational methods were used to investigate the proton movement in the material. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results showed the relative energy of proton adsorption on different sites in the ZnPIm framework.
