Summary

Early detection of incipient failures is crucial to improve energy supply reliability and reduce maintenance costs. A new approach to digital protection uses adaptive adjustment of percentage differential characteristics, considering the current tapping position of regulating transformers. This method provides timely recognition of low-current faults that were previously undetected due to insufficient sensitivity. The adjustment algorithm has been tested on two transformer models using ATP-EMTP, proving suitable for sensitivity improvement and enhanced risk assessment of supply breakdown.
