Summary

A new relaxed Givens rotations (RGR)-RLS algorithm and architecture are proposed, offering fine-grain pipelining, similar convergence to QRD-RLS, good robustness, and square-root-free computation with minimal area overhead. The RGR-RLS algorithm is based on relaxing the Givens rotation to bypass square root and achieve fine-grain pipelining. Two cases are investigated, and the resulting RGR is applied to develop the RGR-RLS algorithm and architecture. The pipelined RGR-RLS (PRGR-RLS) algorithm and architecture are also presented, using a 1-D-step look-ahead technique to pipeline the recursive loop.
