Summary

MicroRNAs (miRNA) regulate gene expression and protein synthesis, especially in the nervous system and brain development. A novel miR-3099 is highly expressed during embryogenesis, particularly in the developing central nervous system, and upon neuronal differentiation. This study used four prediction software (miRDB, miRanda, TargetScan, and DIANA micro-T) to identify miR-3099 target genes, predicting 1676 genes, with 73 predicted by three software and 22 by all four. The targeted genes are involved in transcription activity and neuronal/brain development, warranting further investigation to validate the in silico analysis.
